TidyThread
Privacy policy
Effective date: 8 October 2026
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Publisher and controller: Komos Solutions Ltd (“Komos Solutions”, “we”, “us”)
Product: TidyThread, a Chrome extension
Contact: hello@komossolutions.com
This policy explains how TidyThread handles information. It is written for the Chrome Web Store and for people in the UK, the EU and elsewhere. It sits alongside the Komos Solutions privacy policy.
1. The short version
Your chats stay on your computer. TidyThread saves conversations from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini into IndexedDB in this browser, and can export that archive to files you own. Komos Solutions does not operate a server that stores your chats, prompts or folders.
When paid plans are offered, payment will be taken by Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe as the merchant of record, using Komos Solutions Ltd’s existing Stripe account. We do not receive your card number. The licence service stores the purchase email, Stripe customer and subscription ids, the plan and the licence key. The purchase email works as a sign-in to recover the key. Chat text is never sent.
2. Who we are
Komos Solutions Ltd is a limited company registered in England and Wales. We are the publisher of TidyThread and the controller for the personal data in the website waitlist, support email, and the licence record.

3. What stays on your device
The extension stores the following in your browser profile, using IndexedDB and Chrome’s local extension storage:
- Archived chats and messages, including titles, text, source (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini), the model name when the site provides one, timestamps, links back to the original chat, and folder placement
- Attachment metadata for images and files in a chat: the file name, a type, and an identifier. The file itself is not downloaded or copied into the archive. Any signed query string on that identifier is removed
- Folders and saved prompts, including any variable placeholders you type
- A local full-text search index of those chats
- Settings, the 7-day trial clock, and a cached licence status if you later unlock Pro
- A selector pack: plain JSON that tells the extension how to find messages on each site. It is data, not a program
While you are signed in, import reads the conversation list and chats you can already open on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, and stores that copy in IndexedDB on this computer. It uses the sign-in you already have on that site. It does not send the conversations to Komos Solutions. For Claude, import reads the first organisation id from /api/organizations only to build the address of your conversation list.
Temporary chats and incognito chats are not stored. A copy already saved stays in the archive if you later delete the chat on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. A very long message is stored up to a limit, with a short note that the remainder stayed on the site it came from. Images and files are kept as a name, a type and an id. Any signed query string from the site is removed, and the file itself is not downloaded.
That information is not uploaded to Komos Solutions. Uninstalling TidyThread removes the extension’s local database from the browser profile. If you have exported backup files, those are ordinary files on your computer and you delete them yourself.
The current build does not send a diagnostic or health ping. If a later version offers an optional boolean signal that a site layout has changed, this policy will describe it before that signal is switched on. It would not include chat content.
4. Permissions and why they are used
Chrome will show these permissions. They are only used for the archive on your computer.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
storage and unlimitedStorage |
Store your archived chats, folders, prompts, trial clock and preferences locally on your device, including archives that grow beyond the usual extension quota. |
sidePanel |
Show the TidyThread workspace beside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. |
alarms |
Schedule automatic backups and a periodic licence refresh. The alarm may also refresh the selector pack. |
downloads |
Let you export Markdown or JSON, and save a backup zip that you own. |
https://chatgpt.com/* |
Read and organise conversations you open on ChatGPT, and import history you can already see while signed in. |
https://chat.openai.com/* |
The same ChatGPT archive, for the older address if it still opens or redirects. |
https://claude.ai/* |
Read and organise conversations you open on Claude, and import history you can already see while signed in. Import uses the first organisation id from /api/organizations only to build the list URL. |
https://gemini.google.com/* |
Read and organise conversations you open on Gemini, and import history you can already see while signed in. |
The extension does not request access to every website. It does not read your cookies or sign-in tokens, and it does not load remote program code. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini process your chats under their own terms when you use those sites. TidyThread’s copy is the local one described above.
5. Payments and the founding offer
Checkout is not open in the current build. When it is, Pro will be sold through Stripe Checkout under Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe is the merchant of record: it collects and remits the applicable tax. The prices are £7.99 a month or £69 a year.
The founding offer is the Stripe promotion code FOUNDING49. It prices the first year at £49 for the first 250 yearly redemptions. Later renewals are at the normal yearly price. Stripe processes the code. We may learn that a licence is active, and a short hint of that status may be cached in the extension so Pro keeps working offline for a limited grace period. We do not store your card number, and the licence cache does not include your chats.
The licence service is a Cloudflare Worker at tidythread-licence.damian-774.workers.dev. The data is stored in Cloudflare D1. It stores the purchase email, Stripe customer and subscription ids, the plan and the licence key. The purchase email works as a sign-in to recover the key. Chat text is never sent.
Stripe’s own privacy notice describes how Stripe handles payment data: https://stripe.com/privacy.
6. The website waitlist
The TidyThread page on komossolutions.com has a “Notify me at launch” form. It posts to the existing Komos contact form, which emails your name, email address and a short note to hello@komossolutions.com. We use that email only to tell you when the Chrome Web Store listing is available, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. The form does not create an account and it is not connected to the extension’s archive.
7. Support email
If you email us, we use what you send to answer you. Please do not include chat contents unless you want us to see them in that email. Support mail is not added to the extension archive.
8. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use your chats to train models.
- We do not put advertising trackers in the extension.
- The extension does not collect analytics about chat content.
9. How long we keep information
The local archive remains until you delete chats in the extension, clear the extension’s storage, or uninstall it. Waitlist emails are kept until we have told you about launch, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. Payment records are kept by Stripe under Stripe’s retention rules. We do not keep a separate copy of your card details. The licence service keeps the purchase email, Stripe customer and subscription ids, the plan and the licence key in Cloudflare D1 so the purchase email can be used to recover the key.
10. Legal bases
For the waitlist and support email, we rely on legitimate interests in answering a request you made, and on steps you ask us to take before a contract if you are asking about Pro. Stripe’s processing of a payment, and storing the licence record so you can recover the key, are necessary for the contract when you choose to pay. The local archive is stored on your device under your control. Where consent is required, we will ask for it separately and you can withdraw it.
11. Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EEA you can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict personal data we hold, and you can object to certain processing or ask for portability where it applies. Because chats are not on our servers, you exercise control of the archive on the device. For the waitlist or an email you sent us, write to hello@komossolutions.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
12. Children
TidyThread is not directed at children under 13, or under the higher age required in your country. We do not knowingly collect children’s data.
13. International transfers
Stripe may process payment data outside the UK. Stripe describes the safeguards it uses in its privacy notice. Your chats are not part of that transfer, because chat text is never sent to us, to Stripe, or to the licence service. The licence record is stored in Cloudflare D1.
14. Changes
We will update this page when the product’s data practices change, and we will change the last updated date at the top. A material change to a live policy will be reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing as well.
